The test events
Guardians are assessed via the WHtR screen (0.55 pass/fail), separate from the fitness test, under DoD Instruction 1308.03 and DAFMAN 36-2905.
Body composition in 2026
Space Force adopts the Air Force / DoD fitness and body-composition framework; the WHtR screen is the body-composition component.
Why it matters
Body composition and fitness are separate gates. A service member can pass the run but still be flagged on the WHtR / circumference screen, and vice versa — train both.
