VivMetric is an independent, citation-linked reference for U.S. military and first-responder body-composition and fitness standards. We exist because the official tables are scattered across service regulations, frequently revised, and hard to compare side by side.

How we source and verify
- Figures are drawn from primary service regulations (e.g., AR 600-9, DAFMAN 36-2905, OPNAVINST 6110.1, MCO 6110.3, COMDTINST M1020.8) and DoD Instruction 1308.03.
- Each branch page links to its primary source and shows the date we retrieved and verified the data (2026-08-19).
- Where a service is mid-transition (the 2026 shift from height-and-weight tables to a Waist-to-Height Ratio screen), we state the transition and tell you to confirm the current implementation with your command.
- Calculators use exact, publicly documented formulas (e.g., the U.S. Navy circumference method) and clearly label estimates versus official assessments.
Editorial standards
We never fabricate a standard, a pass/fail line, or a citation. Where no federal standard exists — as with firefighters and law enforcement body composition — we say so explicitly rather than inventing a number. We keep the site North-American English, ad-light, and free to use.
Our approach
Data is compiled from primary service regulations (e.g., AR 600-9, DAFMAN 36-2905, OPNAVINST 6110.1, MCO 6110.3, COMDTINST M1020.8) and DoD Instruction 1308.03, with retrieval dates on every page. Every figure is verified against a primary source before publication; anything unverified is marked as pending or omitted entirely. Standards change — pages are refreshed when a service updates its policy.
What we are not
We are not a military branch, a recruiting office, a medical authority, or a testing organization. Where official channels help, we point you to them, but we hold no special endorsement and our recommendations are never paid for. Standards change — always confirm the current requirements with a recruiter, your command, or the hiring agency before acting.
