The test events

The Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) pairs a cardio event (1.5-mile run, or 12-minute swim / stationary bike / row alternative) with plank and forearm-plank or curl-up options, plus a body-composition assessment. A passing PRT and a passing BCA are both required.

Body composition in 2026

The 2026 BCA is the WHtR screen (0.55 pass); the PRT cardio standard scales by age and sex.

Why it matters

Body composition and fitness are separate gates. A service member can pass the run but still be flagged on the WHtR / circumference screen, and vice versa — train both.

Quick answers

Can I pass the U.S. Navy fitness test but fail body composition?
Yes. They are separate components. A failing WHtR or circumference screen can flag you for a secondary evaluation even with a strong run and push-up score.
