Formula

Common target: 0.5–0.7 oz per lb of body weight, plus extra for sweat.

Healthy range

~91–125 oz/day for most adults (IOM); higher in hot climates and training.

Military & first-responder angle

Dehydration can falsely lower your scale weight at a weigh-in and affect performance on the ACFT or CPAT. Hydrate normally the day before any assessment.

Quick answers

Can dehydration help me pass the tape?
No — it can distort readings and hurts performance. The Army guidance is to hydrate properly; crash tactics do not work on a reliable assessment.
