This Privacy Policy describes how VivMetric handles information when a visitor accesses or uses the website. The policy is structured to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) for California residents, the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL) for visitors in mainland China, and applicable global standards including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) principles for European visitors. The core principle of VivMetric is data minimization: no personal information is intentionally collected, and every calculator on the site runs entirely in the visitor's own web browser using client-side JavaScript, with no input values transmitted to the VivMetric web server at any point. Data We Collect: None for Calculations

VivMetric does not collect, receive, store, process, transmit, or retain any personal information, health information, or calculator input data from visitors. All calculator operations on the site are executed entirely within the visitor's web browser by standard client-side JavaScript code. When a visitor enters numerical values into any calculator (for example, height, weight, age, gender, activity level, or sleep duration), those values are read from the input form, used to compute a mathematical result using the standard formulas described on each page, and the result is written back to the same HTML document in the visitor's browser. At no point during this process are the input values, the output values, or any intermediate calculation state transmitted via an HTTP request to the VivMetric server, to an application server, to an analytics endpoint other than the third-party analytics described below, or to any external service operated by or on behalf of VivMetric.

Specifically, VivMetric does not operate any account registration system, email newsletter, comment section, contact form with server submission, user profile system, saved-results feature, calculator history archive, or any other server-side feature that would require or incentivize the collection of personally identifiable information. There is no "sign up," "log in," "create account," or "save my results" functionality anywhere on the site. Static HTTP requests for HTML pages, CSS stylesheets, JavaScript files, and the favicon are served by standard static hosting infrastructure; standard web server access logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamp, referrer) may be retained by the hosting provider for a limited period for operational security and anti-abuse purposes only. These access logs are not used by VivMetric to identify individual visitors, are not correlated with any calculator inputs, and are not shared with any third party except as required by applicable law or valid legal process.

No health data, no biometric data, no genetic data, no geolocation data, no contact list data, no photo or microphone data, no calendar data, no browsing history outside of the VivMetric domain, and no other sensitive personal data categories are ever requested, accessed, or transmitted by VivMetric. The site does not request any browser permission prompts, does not install any service workers for persistent background data collection, and does not use any fingerprinting scripts, canvas fingerprinting, font enumeration, or device-fingerprinting techniques of any kind.

Cookies

VivMetric itself sets a total of zero first-party cookies. The site does not use cookies for session management, authentication, user identification, tracking, or advertising segmentation. No cookie banner consent, once recorded as described below, is stored as a cookie; it is stored exclusively in browser LocalStorage. Third-party services embedded on VivMetric pages — Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense — may set their own cookies on the vivmetric.com domain or on their own domains, depending on the visitor's browser settings, consent state, and applicable regional privacy rules.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4, Measurement ID G-VN9Z66GCP9) may set cookies prefixed with "_ga" and "_gid" to distinguish unique visitors and sessions, and the "_ga_" container cookie to store and update a Client ID. GA4 is configured with IP anonymization enabled (anonymize_ip: true), meaning that the last octet of the visitor's IP address is truncated by Google before storage in the EU and before any processing in GA4 reporting. Google AdSense may set cookies for frequency capping, ad personalization controls, fraud detection, and conversion measurement. AdSense advertising cookies that fall under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) are subject to the consent signal provided by the visitor through the cookie banner on first visit. Visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and California will see a consent management banner on first page load prior to the loading of any non-essential third-party scripts.

Visitors may refuse or withdraw consent to non-essential third-party cookies at any time by using the cookie consent management widget accessible from the cookie banner link on every page, or by configuring their browser to block third-party cookies entirely. Most modern browsers include granular cookie controls that allow per-domain blocking and automatic deletion. Please note that blocking third-party cookies will not affect the functionality of any VivMetric calculator, as all calculators run independently with no cookie dependency.

LocalStorage: Theme and Cookie Consent Only

VivMetric uses the browser's Web Storage API (localStorage) exclusively to store two non-identifiable visitor preference values on the visitor's own device. The first key, "VivMetric-theme," stores either the string "light" or the string "dark" when the visitor toggles the Dark Mode / Light Mode button in the site header. This value is read on subsequent page loads to apply the visitor's chosen color scheme automatically. The second key, "VivMetric-cookie-consent," stores a short JSON object recording the visitor's consent choices (accept, reject, or custom category selection) from the cookie consent banner. Neither LocalStorage entry contains any personal data, any calculator input, any identifier that could be used to recognize the same visitor across different devices or different websites, or any data transmitted to VivMetric or to any third party.

No calculator result, no input parameter, no search query typed into the site search box, and no page navigation history is ever written to LocalStorage by VivMetric. The sedentary time tracker tool writes elapsed session time to browser sessionStorage only (not LocalStorage), which is automatically cleared when the browser tab is closed; the sedentary timer never transmits the elapsed time to any server. Visitors may clear the two VivMetric LocalStorage entries at any time by clicking "Reset Preferences" on the cookie consent banner, or by using their browser's standard site-data-clearance controls for the vivmetric.com domain.

Third-Party Services: GA4 Analytics and AdSense Advertising

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

VivMetric uses Google Analytics 4 as configured above to collect anonymous, aggregated website usage statistics including pages viewed, approximate geographic region at the country or city level (derived from IP address with the last octet truncated), device type, browser family, operating system, referral source, and session duration. These statistics are used exclusively by VivMetric to understand which pages and calculators are most frequently visited, to identify broken pages or user experience issues, and to prioritize content corrections and updates. No individual-level GA4 data is used by VivMetric to identify any visitor, to create a visitor profile, to segment by health category, or to target any individual with advertising. GA4 data is retained by Google for the period specified in the Google Analytics Data Processing Amendment, and the retention period configured within the VivMetric GA4 property is 14 months for user-level data, with automatic reset on new activity.

Google AdSense

VivMetric serves display advertising through the Google AdSense program to offset hosting and maintenance costs. AdSense is a third-party advertising network owned by Google LLC. AdSense may display interest-based (personalized) ads to visitors depending on the visitor's consent state, Google Ad Settings, and applicable privacy regulation. For visitors who have provided consent for ad personalization, Google may use ad identifiers, browsing behavior across Google publisher and advertiser properties, and profile data from Google accounts where the visitor is signed in to select and serve relevant ads. For visitors who have declined ad personalization or who are in regions where opt-out is the default, non-personalized contextual ads are served based solely on the content of the current VivMetric page being viewed. All ad personalization and data processing is performed by Google; VivMetric does not receive any individual ad personalization data, does not pass any data to Google for ad targeting, and does not set or read any AdSense cookies directly.

Visitors may opt out of personalized advertising served by Google and its partner networks at any time by visiting Google's Ad Settings page (https://www.google.com/settings/ads), or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. These opt-outs are maintained by Google; VivMetric does not have the ability to override or reset them.

CCPA Compliance and Your California Consumer Privacy Rights

For visitors residing in California, VivMetric adheres to the requirements of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Under the CCPA, California consumers have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to request deletion of personal information, the right to opt out of any "sale" of personal information to third parties, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights. As described in detail above, VivMetric does not intentionally collect or retain any personal information that would fall within the CCPA's definition categories. No calculator inputs, no health metrics, no contact details, no purchase history, and no browsing identifiers are stored by VivMetric on any server.

In the event that any visitor believes VivMetric may have inadvertently received or retained personal information about them (for example, through a misdirected email or a third-party referral), the visitor may submit a verifiable consumer request to access, correct, or delete that information using the contact channel listed at the end of this Privacy Policy. VivMetric will respond to verifiable CCPA requests within the statutory 45-day window, with an additional 45-day extension if required and duly notified. Proof of California residency will be requested for all CCPA access and deletion requests. No fee will be charged for a request unless it is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive.

CCPA "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" Notice: VivMetric does not sell personal information of any kind to any third party for any consideration, and has not sold any personal information in the preceding 12-month period. To the extent that the display of third-party personalized advertising by Google AdSense is deemed a "sale" or "sharing" of cross-context behavioral advertising identifiers under CCPA regulations, California residents may opt out of interest-based advertising served by Google by visiting Google's Ad Settings page at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or by clicking the CCPA opt-out preference signal available through the cookie consent management widget on every VivMetric page.

PIPL Compliance (Personal Information Protection Law of the P.R.C.)

For visitors accessing VivMetric from within mainland China, this Privacy Policy also adheres to the principles and requirements of the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL). Personal information is not collected, processed, stored, or transferred by VivMetric in a manner that would trigger PIPL registration, consent, or cross-border transfer obligations. All calculations run locally on the visitor's own device, and no personally identifiable information, health information, or sensitive personal information as defined under Article 28 of the PIPL is submitted to or retained by any VivMetric server. In the event that any future feature change would result in the processing of personal information under PIPL scope, explicit informed and voluntary consent will be obtained from the affected users prior to any such processing, the scope and purpose of processing will be clearly disclosed, and this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly with an incremented Last Updated date.

PIPL Article 15 through Article 20 rights — including the right to know and understand, the right to consult and copy, the right to correct and supplement, the right to delete, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to request explanation of personal information processing rules — may be exercised by visitors in mainland China using the same contact channel listed at the end of this Privacy Policy. Any personal information that is received by VivMetric incidentally (for example, a name or email address included in a content correction inquiry) will be processed only for the narrow purpose of responding to that specific inquiry, will not be disclosed to any third party, and will be deleted promptly after the resolution of the inquiry unless a longer retention is required by applicable law.

Your Rights (General Global Summary)

Regardless of jurisdiction, any visitor may: (1) request confirmation of whether any personal information about them is held by VivMetric; (2) request access to and a copy of any such information; (3) request correction of any inaccurate information; (4) request deletion of any such information; (5) request restriction of processing of any such information; (6) withdraw any previously provided consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal; and (7) lodge a complaint with the applicable data protection supervisory authority. Because VivMetric intentionally stores almost no personal data, most of these requests will result in a confirmation that no relevant data is held. All rights requests will be responded to within the timeline required by applicable regulation, or within 30 calendar days by default, with a written explanation of the action taken or the reason for refusal.

Children's Privacy

VivMetric does not knowingly collect, solicit, or receive personal information from children under the age of 13 (as defined under the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA), under the age of 16 (as defined under the EU GDPR), or under any other age threshold established by applicable local law. The site is not directed to children, and no marketing activity is targeted at children. Because VivMetric does not operate registration forms, email submission forms, or any other personal information input field other than pure numerical calculator inputs that are never transmitted, the practical ability to knowingly collect children's personal data does not exist. In the event that VivMetric becomes aware that any personal information of a child below the applicable age threshold has been received incidentally through a third-party channel, that information will be deleted permanently and without undue delay. Parents or guardians who believe that any child's personal information may have been received may notify VivMetric via the contact channel below, and a response with confirmation of deletion will be provided within the statutory timeframe.
